Cromer, Heacham, Holt, Home

Tuesday we had a bit of a road trip, we went out to Cromer first and walked along the sea front and got ice creams.

Did you know in America they don’t have flakes? True story. I explained crabbing to Kim and once again failed to find a t shirt that said “I got crabs in Cromer” for another year running (for the non-locals, Cromer is famous for its crabs being the tastiest and you can catch little crabs off the pier).

Then we went to Heacham to the Lavender Farm and walked through their nice gardens.

And inspected the Lavender; Kimberly’s verdict – BEES. Kim is mortally afraid of bees owing to a childhood incident where a nest of bees had made a home in playground equipment and she climbed on them with disastrous results. As I write this she informs me that they were not bees, they were wasps, or hornets.. She hasn’t told me if they were Africanised or not yet. She also wants to know why I’m dragging up traumatic memories.

We got a Lavender scone and after that we took a trip to Holt to visit Byfords, a big favourite of mine.

And then the long drive home. Every time we go in a car and I drive Kim instantly falls asleep. Every time we go in a car and Kim drives I snap to being super alert and the air is punctuated with my screams of “my god woman pick a lane” and “hands on the wheel!!! Ten and two, ten and two!” Or Kim’s favourite “I choose life!!”. Memories.

Afternoon Tea

It’s bank holiday weekend here in sunny England and although I’m working two of the three days today the boyfriend and I decided to head to the coast and walk around Cromer
There was much arcade game playing and I even won one of the games of throwing basketball hoops (you know that arcade game that releases basketballs and you play against the other person to score the most?) although the boyfriend did win the other two games but only just!
Then we headed to my beloved Byfords of Holt for a spot of afternoon tea
Complete with tasty snacks
And the boyfriend and I both bravely tried smoked salmon in our crustless sandwiches too
We took the cakes home
It’s a lovely old place to eat, if you go to Holt you have to go there, if I could I think I’d set up shop and live there in the deli section.

A Very Busy Weekend

Well how down was I to go back to work this Monday morning?
My weekend started Friday night here –
At Pinocchios for a staff night out which was really nice.
Then Saturday bright and early (by which I mean 11am) it was concert time here –
Then afterwards because it was mine and the boyfriend’s second anniversary we went to Byfords of Holt for dinner –
It was so nice and reasonably priced and there was a station of home made bread and butter, olives, sun dried tomatoes and pickled onions from their deli shop and you could just help yourself to them for free whilst you waited for your food (I was on olive overload!).
Then afterwards we went for honeycomb ice cream at Sheringham and a little walk along the sea front. Ronaldo’s is the best ice cream place and we always make a trip when we’re near by!
Then Sunday the boyfriend and I went to Fritton Lake, I’d never been before but how nice! The boyfriend almost got a hole in one at pitch and putt (technically a hole in two but it was so close!). My ball is the one furthest away and it only got there after about 3 whacks!
Then I got rowed around that lake 🙂 what a shame we couldn’t swap places in the rowing boat, it was against the rules haha.
